An experienced business immigration practitioner licensed to practice in Canada and the US, Alex Israel is a partner at EY Law. He has assisted some of the country’s largest companies with US immigration and citizenship matters. His experience includes successfully managing and directing the US immigration processes for Fortune 500 clients and start-up companies, as well as routinely making legal arguments to federal government agencies. Alex oversees a team of US attorneys and paralegals who deliver services to our clients.
Specifically, Alex provides and oversees the provision of immigration services to corporate clients in the preparation of permanent residence and temporary employment petitions and applications.
Fluent in Spanish and French, Alex has been a speaker at immigration seminars and conferences where he has provided immigration advice to corporate clients in various industries, including the banking, biotech, communications, entertainment, information technology, manufacturing and professional services sectors.
He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association (Citizenship and Immigration section), the Canadian Bar Association, the New York State Bar, the American Bar Association, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (Canada chapter). He formerly served as secretary and vice president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s Canada chapter.

Marwah Serag has practiced law exclusively in the field of US business immigration since 2005. She oversees the provision and coordination of US immigration services and immigration advisory services. She manages a team of US immigration professionals, and oversees the delivery of US immigration services to corporate clients, including assisting them with temporary employment visas and permanent residence applications.
Marwah has served and advised Fortune 500 companies and medium- to large-sized corporate clients relating to immigration, international assignment management, and global mobility issues. She develops and delivers immigration compliance and advisory solutions to corporate clients in a wide range of sectors, including financial services, engineering, pharmaceutical, health care products and medical devices, technology and academic institutions. She provides strategic advice to clients on their immigration programs including the structure and design of their internal immigration functions and efficiencies of their processes and systems.
Marwah holds a JD from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago and a BSc from Arizona State University. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar and is a licensed Foreign Legal Consultant by the Law Society of Upper Canada. She is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and has served on the AILA-Canada chapter Executive Board.

Marwah Serag
As partner, Melanie Bradshaw is a seasoned practitioner responsible for advising external clients and the firm on policy changes in US immigration law. She serves as a lead attorney to a team of over 42 professionals, including 14 attorneys, advising on frequently changing US policy and regulatory updates, while upholding compliance and quality standards. She works closely with EY’s Public Policy Department to advise on the impact of draft legislation and regulatory changes in the immigration space.
Melanie leads firm-wide standardization initiatives across EY Law’s US client engagement teams nationally. She has provided immigration counsel to clients across industries and sectors, including arts and entertainment, sports, higher education, mining and metals, architecture, finance, information technology and professional services. Her leadership and direction continue to support the lifecycle for hiring, staffing, and deploying foreign talent while remaining compliant with USCIS and DOL regulators.
Melanie joined EY Law after practicing for several years as a US immigration attorney in New York, where she represented clients from diverse backgrounds in all aspects of immigration law, including family and employment-based immigrant and non-immigrant visa petitions, naturalization, asylum, VAWA, criminal issues, waivers and removal defense, before such entities as the immigration courts, BIA, USCIS, US Department of State, Administrative Appeals Office, and Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.
Melanie is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and the Professional Women’s Network within EY.
